Two placements. Two files.

Apple shows a 21:9 header at the top of your product page and a 3:2 video in search results. There is no universal video: the 16:9 universal asset exists only as a still image. Each file is composed for its own frame.

What Apple documents, and what we tested

The help page and the App Store Connect API disagree on length, and neither covers codec or audio. We uploaded real files to App Store Connect to find out. Headloop’s defaults stay on the safe side, and say which values are still assumptions.

Tested on App Store Connect, October 12, 2026. Our upload tests record whether App Store Connect processed each file and which spec it matched it to. They don’t cover App Review, placement on a product page, or how a device displays the video. Sources: App Store Connect Help, “Creative assets specifications”; the App Store Connect API asset catalog. Values marked Assumed are not confirmed by our tests. Spec version 2026-10-12. What Headloop will do to your videoComing soon

Most recordings are 9:16. A header is 21:9. Filling the gap is a choice, and you make it per file. The editor is in development; the checker works today.

Header composed with crop mode

Cropped around a focal point you drag. Nothing added, but the edges go.

Fills the frame
Each file will be composed for its own frame, with the subject kept clear of the edges a phone crops.
Blur, crop, color, mirror
Loops it
A crossfade from the last frames into the first will hide the cut in the loop.
0.3–1.0 s crossfade
Conforms it
Files will be encoded with the safest known settings, with a silent audio track when your video has none.
H.264 High · 30 fps · SDR
Checks it again
Each finished file will be measured again before you get it. A file that fails a check will not be delivered.
